Weekend Snapshot: My Fairy Princess

We attended the Scaredy Cats and Dogs Halloween Pet Event organized by the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). It was held at Eastwood City last October 27. I was actually not planning on bringing Mika because that would mean that I’d have to go there coming from my shift at work, meaning no sleep for me for at least 24 hours (and indeed I was up for close to 30 hours!) :s But it was such an exciting event that we just couldn’t miss it, sleep or no sleep :p So I got Mika to dress up as a Fairy Princess and off we went to Eastwood!
Well, thank goodness we went there because we were in for a big surprise!
MIKA WON THE HALLOW’S EVE AWARD:
BEST FEMALE IN COSTUME!
Woohoo! I didn’t even know til today that’s it’s the Grand Prize! Toink! We weren’t even planning on joining. I just wanted her to mingle with the dogs and join the trick or treat. In fact, as the awards were being announced, we were getting ready to go home and so I took her outfit off already. She was so sweaty from running around and I wanted to change her clothes. Right after I took off her dress, they called out her name! I must have screamed oh my god like ten million times! We were frantic! She wasn’t dressed and she was ALL SWEATY from running around the plaza! So I quickly put her dress back on, no time left for the wings and we ran to the stage to accept the award. Nyahahaha! When we were on stage, that was the only time I realized that she looked really funny with sweaty and messy hair. Bwahahaha! :s The judges were probably thinking, “are you sure she’s the one?” Hehehe!
As my uncle said, hey, it’s her first beauty title! Nevermind that’s it a halloween title. Hahahaha!
It was a successful event. A lot of pets attended with their humans
There were sooo many of them in such cute and creative costumes! I can’t wait til next year!

Mika and Princess wore matching Pink and Silver outfits to the Scaredy Cats and Dogs Pet Halloween Event sponsored by Philippine Animal Welfare last weekend. Aren’t they the cutest?

Eversince Patoochie turned turned 2, we’ve been using her bath tub less and less. She would only sit there for a few seconds and then get up and try to get in the pail (which obviously held more water). So in the end, we finally gave up on the bath tub and had it sent away. We bought a non-slip matt for the bathroom floor to prevent slips and allowed her to enjoy a bigger bath space and the pail. Now Patoochie enjoys baths even more because she gets to dunk herself in a pail full of water!
Of course this also mean MORE splashing and wetter parents

Patoochiecake Adventures: The Negotiator
Early this evening Mika and I had a really funny conversation. Yes, I can actually have conversations with her already but they are usually more like negotiations rather than actual story sessions. Hehehe! Mika, brush your teeth first THEN you can watch tv. Mommy, jello BEFORE take a bath. You get the picture, right?
This evening, right before dinner, she wanted milk. Since I knew it would spoil her appetite, I tried to convince her by dangling her favorite part of any meal: RICE (yes, she is a rice-lover like her father!) Unfortunately, this didn’t work. So I bargained.
Kris: Let’s eat first then I’ll give you milk.
Mika: No, dede first Mommy. Then eat wice.
Kris: Fine. (finally giving in … but only a little bit) But only 2 ounces okay?
Mika: No. (complete with furled eyebrows)
Kris: Huh? How much do you want?
Mika: One only. Ayaw two.
Hahahaha! It sounded so funny! and she flashed a HUGE smile like she absolutely won! I guess she thought I meant 2 bottles of milk. Hahaha! So anyway, we both kept our word. I gave her 1 ounce of milk and she ate all her food during dinner. Beat that Kevin Spacey!

Thursday 13: Movies I’m Dying to See

13 Movies I’m Dying to See!
(in no particular order)
1. Sex and the City the Movie. Woohoo! I so love these girls! But then again, who doesn’t?! Target release date: May 2008
2. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Harrison Ford is back everybody! I can’t wait to see how they will pick up from the last installment and how Harrison Ford will portray the role that made his super duper famous! Target Release Date is May 2008.
3. Sweeney Todd. Yay! Johnny Depp has been a dream guy since 21 jump street days. Sigh. And he’s so perfect for these dark roles, don’t you think? The set reminds me a bit of the attic in Edward Scissorhands. Target release date is January 2008.
6. The Dark Knight. Oooooh … I so loved Batman Begins with Chritian Bale. I hope this one is just as awesome
Target release date July 18, 2008. Lots to look forward to next year!
7. Wolverine. Thank od it’s still gonna be Hugh Jackman! I think he’s perfect for the role. Wolverine is one of my all-time favorite X-Men characters since high-school! I would just love to see a movie about him! I hope they make it true to the comic book though :p Target release date is sometimes 2008.
8. Beowulf. Neil Gaiman is the screenwriter for this which is in itself something to be excited about! Not to mention it stars Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie (which I’m suremy hubby will be happy about. Nyahaha!) Target release date is November 16, 2007.
9. The Power of the Dark Crystal. About 2 decades after the original fantasy “The Dark Crystal” the Jim Henson Company finally started producing the sequel. The original movie was one of my favorites when I was young. That didn’t just give away how ancient I am, right? :p With all the advancements in animation now, I wonder how great this one will turn out. Target release is sometime in 2009.
10. Fast and the Furious 4. I’m a sucker for fast cars and races, what can I say. I was so completely disappointed with the 3rd installment of F&F that I am practically doing cartwheels now that I heard Vin Diesel and Paul walker will be back for the fourth installment. No target release date yet so this will most likely be a long wait.
11. Dragonlance: Dragon of Autumn Twilight. This is most likely the best fantasy series I’ve ever read in my life and the fact that it’s finally going to be in the big screen is just making me hyperventilate! Hahaha! This will be an animated film though. I’m sure it won’t be as good as the book, but I would love to see it on film. Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman are making sure that the movie is true to the story. Thank God! No release date yet but it’s in post-production already.
12. The Assassination of Jesse James. Brad Pitt. Let me say that again. Brad Pitt. The end. Hahaha! But seriously, it has been said that “Pitt gives the most tortured, endearing, and frightening performance of the year thus far”. Target release date is this month! Yey!
13. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Uhm. Need I say more? Target release date is November 2008.

The Long Weekend :)
We had our very first Mommyhood Playdate last Saturday and boy was it fun! I’ve traded stories with these girls about our kids and whatnot, we’ve been friends forever, seen each other’s kids grow up in pictures and videos but most of us have never seen each other’s kids or seen each other in years. Finally, we were able to pull off our very first playdate last Saturday and everyone had so much fun! I wish we could do this on a more regular basis though. It would be a great experience for both moms and kids

Funny how the internet allows us to keep track of everyone so conveniently. We can share pictures and videos and little snippets of our lives. You get to share (at least virtually) each other’s experiences in a click of a mouse. God, I love the internet! Otherwise it would be hell to keep in touch! Can you imagine sending disks of videos and printed pictures via snail mail? Oh boy!

Anyway, the rest of the week was full of bumming on the couch, watching Alias and some new shows like Heroes and Smallville with bowls of unlimited popcorn to munch. We haven’t started watching everything else yet because I wanna wait til I have at elast 6 episodes worth to watch. My hubby and I are HUGE TV show addicts, what can I say?
I can’t wait til the next LOOOONG weekend! That would be around halloween til sunday. How exciting is that! I’m hoping we can spend it in the house in Tagaytay for a nice R&R with family. Not to mention mahjong and pig-out sessions too!
I hope everyone else had a fabulous weekend!
More playdate pictures here.

Patoochiecake Adventures: The Sticky Situation
I was reading my book in the bedroom when I heard Mika calling for help in the living room. I rushed outside to find a completely annoyed Mika with her right foot stuck in her pencil can. It’s actually a Pringles can which we covered in felt and decorated for reuse. Anyway, I think she’s over her put-weird-stuff-on-my-head stage and is now more interested in various objects where her foot can fit :p

Helpful Mommy that I am, the moment I saw her in distress, I said, “OMG! Mika! What did you do?” at the same time reaching for my camera which was conveniently on the entertainment center behind me. Hehehe! Suffice to say I took pics first before helping her get out of her sticky situation. Hahaha!

This of course made her even more frantic. Teehee! I guess she won’t try to stick her foot in there again next time :p Or maybe I should just reuse empty Planters Cheez Curls cans instead of Pringles :p

Patoochiecake Adventures: Living up to her rep!

She’s definitely learning the toddler ropes and living up to her reputation. Here’s a few of her toddler-y moments recently
Kris: Give Mommy a kiss, Mika!
Mika: (stops building her marble race tower and looks at me) No. Busy Mika. One minute (while raising her index finger).
Since when?! Busy?! She’s really loving the 1 minute line and the busy Mika line. Every time you ask her to do something she says she’s BUSY! :s
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Mika: Mommy? (flashing a smile while attempting to drop a picture frame behind the bed)
Kris: No, Mika. Don’t drop that!
Mika: (drops it anyway)
Kris: Why did you do that?! I told you not to!
Mika: (moves closer to me and starts singing the Barney song, “I love you! You love me! Mommy?” and then flashes the widest grin in the world!)
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Mika: Look, Mommy, puppies!
Kris:Mika say, “Hi Buddy! Hi Barney!” (those are the pups’ names)
Mika: (gives me a weird look) No, Mommy. Say “Hi puppy!”
Barney is a dinosaur nga naman eh. Si Mommy talaga! :p
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
We were role playing with her toy castle last week, copying a story from Pocoyo (a British-sounding Disney Channel cartoon – her favorite). So we had Mommy Princess, Daddy Prince, several horses, a couch, some plants and a treasure box. I pretended I found treasure.
Kris: Mika! Look! I found treasure! (pronounced tre-zhoor)
Mika: (showing me the treasure box) No, Mommy. Tre-zhah! Like Pocoyo! Tre-ZHAH!
Nyahaha! So now everyone in the house says it that way :p
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
We were sitting on the couch, watching Cars. She’s been hooked on the Motherhood Babies Car Craze lately :p Anyway, since the F1 race was coming up, I decided to practice our cheer with her. During the first part of Cars where they were showing the race, the following conversation occurred:
Kris: Mika! Let’s Cheer! Say, “Go Ferrari!”
Mika: No, Mommy.
Kris: Come on! Say, “Go Ferrari!”
Mika:No Ferrari! Cars only. Go Lightning!
Oo nga naman. There’s no Ferrari naman in Nascar eh :p

Mika’s Marble Race Toy
She absolutely loves playing with this tower. Its made of several curvy parts and some cylindrical ones. you can put them together nd make your own track for the marbles. She would get her toy chest for this and bring it to me saying, “Mommy, building tower!” Hehehe! That’s Mikanese for let’s build a tower

OC Ka Fairy Ko!
My uncle brought home purple fairy wings for Mika and she was absolutely thrilled and started fluttering around the house. The funny thing is that she got glitters on her hands since the wings were kin of glittery. OC kiddo that she is, when she saw the glitters on her hands, she immediately went to me and said, “mommy dirty hands!” Hahahaha!
Thanks to Weng for my new title!
