Weekend Snapshot: My Fairy Princess

We attended the Scaredy Cats and Dogs Halloween Pet Event organized by the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). It was held at Eastwood City last October 27. I was actually not planning on bringing Mika because that would mean that I’d have to go there coming from my shift at work, meaning no sleep for me for at least 24 hours (and indeed I was up for close to 30 hours!) :s But it was such an exciting event that we just couldn’t miss it, sleep or no sleep :p So I got Mika to dress up as a Fairy Princess and off we went to Eastwood!
Well, thank goodness we went there because we were in for a big surprise!
MIKA WON THE HALLOW’S EVE AWARD:
BEST FEMALE IN COSTUME!
Woohoo! I didn’t even know til today that’s it’s the Grand Prize! Toink! We weren’t even planning on joining. I just wanted her to mingle with the dogs and join the trick or treat. In fact, as the awards were being announced, we were getting ready to go home and so I took her outfit off already. She was so sweaty from running around and I wanted to change her clothes. Right after I took off her dress, they called out her name! I must have screamed oh my god like ten million times! We were frantic! She wasn’t dressed and she was ALL SWEATY from running around the plaza! So I quickly put her dress back on, no time left for the wings and we ran to the stage to accept the award. Nyahahaha! When we were on stage, that was the only time I realized that she looked really funny with sweaty and messy hair. Bwahahaha! :s The judges were probably thinking, “are you sure she’s the one?” Hehehe!
As my uncle said, hey, it’s her first beauty title! Nevermind that’s it a halloween title. Hahahaha!
It was a successful event. A lot of pets attended with their humans
There were sooo many of them in such cute and creative costumes! I can’t wait til next year!

Patoochiecake Adventures: The Negotiator
Early this evening Mika and I had a really funny conversation. Yes, I can actually have conversations with her already but they are usually more like negotiations rather than actual story sessions. Hehehe! Mika, brush your teeth first THEN you can watch tv. Mommy, jello BEFORE take a bath. You get the picture, right?
This evening, right before dinner, she wanted milk. Since I knew it would spoil her appetite, I tried to convince her by dangling her favorite part of any meal: RICE (yes, she is a rice-lover like her father!) Unfortunately, this didn’t work. So I bargained.
Kris: Let’s eat first then I’ll give you milk.
Mika: No, dede first Mommy. Then eat wice.
Kris: Fine. (finally giving in … but only a little bit) But only 2 ounces okay?
Mika: No. (complete with furled eyebrows)
Kris: Huh? How much do you want?
Mika: One only. Ayaw two.
Hahahaha! It sounded so funny! and she flashed a HUGE smile like she absolutely won! I guess she thought I meant 2 bottles of milk. Hahaha! So anyway, we both kept our word. I gave her 1 ounce of milk and she ate all her food during dinner. Beat that Kevin Spacey!

The Long Weekend :)
We had our very first Mommyhood Playdate last Saturday and boy was it fun! I’ve traded stories with these girls about our kids and whatnot, we’ve been friends forever, seen each other’s kids grow up in pictures and videos but most of us have never seen each other’s kids or seen each other in years. Finally, we were able to pull off our very first playdate last Saturday and everyone had so much fun! I wish we could do this on a more regular basis though. It would be a great experience for both moms and kids

Funny how the internet allows us to keep track of everyone so conveniently. We can share pictures and videos and little snippets of our lives. You get to share (at least virtually) each other’s experiences in a click of a mouse. God, I love the internet! Otherwise it would be hell to keep in touch! Can you imagine sending disks of videos and printed pictures via snail mail? Oh boy!

Anyway, the rest of the week was full of bumming on the couch, watching Alias and some new shows like Heroes and Smallville with bowls of unlimited popcorn to munch. We haven’t started watching everything else yet because I wanna wait til I have at elast 6 episodes worth to watch. My hubby and I are HUGE TV show addicts, what can I say?
I can’t wait til the next LOOOONG weekend! That would be around halloween til sunday. How exciting is that! I’m hoping we can spend it in the house in Tagaytay for a nice R&R with family. Not to mention mahjong and pig-out sessions too!
I hope everyone else had a fabulous weekend!
More playdate pictures here.

Mika’s Marble Race Toy
She absolutely loves playing with this tower. Its made of several curvy parts and some cylindrical ones. you can put them together nd make your own track for the marbles. She would get her toy chest for this and bring it to me saying, “Mommy, building tower!” Hehehe! That’s Mikanese for let’s build a tower

My Desktop – Tagged by Myra

Here’s my desktop. My hubby and I are huge Ferrari fans! And I am so not a fan of icons on the deskop. This explains why I have absolutely no icons whatsoever. Hehehe! But I do have a couple of sidebar gadgets … my most favorite feature in vista
On the right side of the desktop, you will see a clock, a weather update (gives you 2-7 days forecasts too), CPU and memory usage meter, a calendar, a notepad where i keep track of shows to download and other things i normally forget, and finally, a slideshow which changes the picture every 5 seconds. The slideshow ranges from Mika pics to sceneries to whatever I have on the PC. It has a second pane wherein I have a live panda cam from the san diego zoo (super cute), random calvin and hobbes comic strip, news feeds from NBC, and a voodoo doll you can stick pins on … seriously. Hahaha! My voodoo doll is currently named Alonso (Fernando Alonso is my most hated F1 driver) which can be seen on the left :p It’s a nice stress reliever. Hahaha!

Ateneo beats La Salle!
We live to fight another day! Woohoo! Today’sUAAP Semi Finals game was just ultimately exciting! Ateneo beat La Salle (who is unfortunately, twice to beat!) with 1 point in the last 7.5 seconds. It was most probably the longest, most exciting 2 minutes of my life! Well, except maybe when I gave birth to Mika. Hahaha! I had only two hours of sleep and was getting ready for an early meeting at work (which of course I ended up being late for!). Hubby was home early because he wasn’t feeling well. And I am so glad I got to watch it with him because we’re eagles and archers and it was just so much fun to bicker and banter with him during the game. Hehehe! Of course thank goodness I had the last laugh. He was already telling me, “Go to work already. You’re just prolonging the agony. You’re asking for heartbreak.” Hahaha! But I just couldn’t get my feet out the door, not with only a minute remaining!
Chris Tiu nailed it once again when the Eagles really needed him. Thank you for the 3-pointer! Thank you for the lay-up! Thank you too La Salle, for not making the 3 pointer and the rebound at the absolute last second :p
When the game ended I was literally jumping around the room, screaming my life away! It actually gave me a headache after. Nyahaha! And I was in such adrenaline high! Which turned out to be a blessing because we had an office meeting that needed quite a lot of thinking. I wouln’t have made it with 2 hours of sleep alone!
Mika was cheering along with me, shouting, “Go Ateney!” She couldn’t add the “O” at the end. Hehehe! I caught a short video of it. I’ll maybe upload it when I get the chance.
On to Sunday for the final game between Ateneo and La Salle for this season. It will most definitely be another all out exciting game! Oh I just can’t wait!

Manicky Me
I have some kind of mania for hair care products, lotion, cologne and other toiletries. I can’t seem to have enough! I have gazillion kinds of lotion and cologne both bought and given which are half used and even barely used and hardly ever used again! Some of them, I just use once and then I forget about it for the rest of its shelf life.
It must be some sort of magnetic thing. I’m drawn to them in shopping malls and groceries. Except maybe “Lush” coz I find the scent of the store waaay too strong! I feel like the store assualts my nostrils. Hahaha!
I loooove going to the hair care section to check out what’s new. Nevermind that I have an almost full bottle sitting in the bathroom at home. I just wanna buy to try. And if it turns out iffy, it will sit there for the longest time til I FINALLY decide to throw it away or give it away. My husband has always wondered why I can’t stick to one brand, why I always have to try them out, and why I take forever deciding what to get. Hehe!
I have tons of lotion at home, including body butter. Tons of fruity cologne which I soooo LOVE! Tons of all kinds of things I don’t use. I’m eyeing another vanilla set on Multiply. Ahhhh … I can almost smell it now.

Negative 10 million watts to the infinity power
I thought my negative 5 watt yaya, Emily, was bad. We all did, actually. Until Aida came along. Man, talk about negative 10 million watts to the infinity power! Or as Les described her, yaya from hell and beyond! She is HORRIBLE! Absolutely horrible! She arrived Saturday night and I am about to lose my mind so please allow me to rant :-p
By the way, I wont even rant about the Marlene, the previous one who I also thought was great at first (the one who knew hi-5). Let’s just say she turned out to be a total disaster as well. But this one? This one is a total freak show.
Her press release:
She’s been a yaya before. She took care of the daughter of a lawyer from birth to 4 years in a condo in Makati. Sounds good. Read on.
The horrible reality:
1. She has absolutely no idea how to interact with kids! Mika doesn’t like her and I cant leave them alone for more than 5 minutes! Long story short, I haven’t slept much and went to work last night with practically zero sleep.
2. She gets shifted into another dimension all the time when she finds something interesting on tv, on print or someone else’s conversation! As in she completely forgets about Mika. One time I was chatting with Nelson and my mother-in-law, she and Mika passed by. Later on, i realized that she was just listening in and forgot all about Mika who was off running elsewhere! Another time in Laguna, Mika was trying to show her a flower. She said, “Look yaya, flower!” several times but she was busy reading the resort advertisement. Haaay.
3. The first night she was here, I asked her to set the table and she said, “Ate magtitinidor ba kayo?” DUH?! I died.
4. Sunday we went to Laguna with Nelson’s family. As soon as lunch was served, I saw her standing there BESIDE my mother-in-law, with a plateful (as in mega-plateful) of rice with her ulam, ready to eat. Meanwhile, Mika, Nelson and I haven’t eaten. I told her to feed Mika, she said yes but later on I found her still eating her food ever so slowly. Buti nalang she decided to move to another area, not na right beside my mother in law on the table. Later on during merienda, while the other yayas were busy with the other kids, there she was na naman near the table munching on Cheetos and Ruffles. Kill me already. Super nakakahiya!
5. When Mika pooped, I asked her to change her diaper. She said she knew how so I let her do it herself and watched. I got the shock of my life when she tried ripping the diaper at the side seams to take them off! When I asked, “Diba nagyaya ka na? Hindi ka ba marunong gumamit niyan?” She said, “Kasi puro lampin lang ang gamit dun eh.” Daughter of a lawyer in a condo in Makati? Not once did she wear a disposable diaper?!
6. I asked her to buy something at the store in the 5th floor. She asked, “Pano po ba gamitin yung elevator?” And this is from someone who said she worked in a condo for 4 years. When I asked why she didn’t know how, she said she hardly goes out daw kasi. Let me say it again … 4 years in a condo?!
7. On the way to Laguna, in the car, she brought an entire bag of dedes. No powder, no pamunas, nothing else. On the way back to Manila, she brought with her in the car an entire bag of clothes. No dede. This is a yaya of 4 years. DAW.
I will not mention na all. There’s just toooooo many. And she’s only been with us for 3 days. I’m still hoping for some kind of miracle. A perfect yaya for Mika. Until then, save my soul from eternal damnation.

The Big Three-Oh
I am 30!!!
Good grief.

30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…30…
OMG! I’M 30!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good grief.
Maybe if I say it over and over again it will sink in and start sounding better. Hahaha! Maybe 30 really is the new 18. Nyahaha! I’ve been sooooo in denial for the looooongest time! Talk about panic mode! Denial mode! Desperately holding on to my 20’s mode! I have just entered The Land of the Big Three-Oh.
I had an awesome weekend though! Jill, Toby and Les came over to the house for some good ol’ girl time. I love love love your gift!!!!! Thank you Jill, Les and Ria! Super super super thank you!!!!!!!
Sunday, which was my actual birthday, was spent in the Kawit home with Nelson, Mika, Mom, Uncle Gi, Lola, Ivan, Fonz and Nol PIGGING OUT! Hahahaha! Oh we ate non-stop! I don’t think I even got a chance to digest before I stuffed myself with food again! And then we had a mahjong marathon with Lola! Food and mahjong! Yeah! Hahaha! And then we attended my niece’s 1st birthday party. Maybe if I surround myself with kids, they’ll rub some youth on me! Hahaha!
Dad came over on Monday and we had a super fun time playing bubbles with Mika. He made 2 hot air balloons for us too! And Mika had the time of her life playing with the dogs in between bubble sessions! I am soooo excited to post pics! We had lunch at MOA, did some book shopping (thanks for my book daddycake! I CAN’T WAIT TO READ IT!), some domesticated grocery shopping, and ended it with a nice loooong Alias marathon with my honey bunny
Thank you for all the greetings! Soon enough, I guess I’ll be able to embrace this new decade. In the meantime, I will have to stock up on anti-aging creams. Hahahaha!

Tuesday Ramblings
Let me just ramble a bit …
Today’s breakfast was exceptionally wonderful! We had buttered corn and oh so yummy freshly brewed Timothy’s German Chocolate Cake flavored coffee. Ahhhh … Yum! Yum! Yum! I know technically, it’s not the perfect combination but I have been craving for buttered corn for days now! So this duo is just heaven on earth for me today! Coffee always tastes yummier when it’s raining, doesn’t it? Maybe it’s the rain that’s making me so giddy these days.
~*~*~*~
It’s been raining for 2 days straight now. Thank goodness for Chedeng, the newest and ironically, the most awaited storm to hit our country. We’ve only had 3 so far when we normally should have had about 8 already. They said it’s still not enough to bring our dam water levels back up but it’s better than nothing. I’ve always loved the rain.
~*~*~*~
Mika was so funny this morning. She gave a Yakult bottle to me and said, “Mommy?” I figured she wanted me to open it. Since she already knows how to say please, I thought maybe she just forgot. So I tried to remind her. I wasn’t prepared for the following exchange though:
Me: What will you say? (she normally would say “please mommy, open?”)
Mika: Tutu Mommy! (meaning thank you mommy!)
Me: No, you say please first! Okay, what will you say?
Mika: Please? Tutu Mommy!
BOINK!
