Weekend Snapshot: My Fairy Princess

My Fairy Princess

My Fairy Princess

We attended the Scaredy Cats and Dogs Halloween Pet Event organized by the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). It was held at Eastwood City last October 27. I was actually not planning on bringing Mika because that would mean that I’d have to go there coming from my shift at work, meaning no sleep for me for at least 24 hours (and indeed I was up for close to 30 hours!) :s But it was such an exciting event that we just couldn’t miss it, sleep or no sleep :p So I got Mika to dress up as a Fairy Princess and off we went to Eastwood!

Well, thank goodness we went there because we were in for a big surprise!

MIKA WON THE HALLOW’S EVE AWARD:
BEST FEMALE IN COSTUME!

Woohoo! I didn’t even know til today that’s it’s the Grand Prize! Toink! We weren’t even planning on joining. I just wanted her to mingle with the dogs and join the trick or treat. In fact, as the awards were being announced, we were getting ready to go home and so I took her outfit off already. She was so sweaty from running around and I wanted to change her clothes. Right after I took off her dress, they called out her name! I must have screamed oh my god like ten million times! We were frantic! She wasn’t dressed and she was ALL SWEATY from running around the plaza! So I quickly put her dress back on, no time left for the wings and we ran to the stage to accept the award. Nyahahaha! When we were on stage, that was the only time I realized that she looked really funny with sweaty and messy hair. Bwahahaha! :s The judges were probably thinking, “are you sure she’s the one?” Hehehe!

As my uncle said, hey, it’s her first beauty title! Nevermind that’s it a halloween title. Hahahaha!

It was a successful event. A lot of pets attended with their humans :) There were sooo many of them in such cute and creative costumes! I can’t wait til next year! :)

More pics at my multiply site :)

Mika and Princess wore matching Pink and Silver outfits to the Scaredy Cats and Dogs Pet Halloween Event sponsored by Philippine Animal Welfare last weekend. Aren’t they the cutest? :-)

Mika's Tub

Eversince Patoochie turned turned 2, we’ve been using her bath tub less and less. She would only sit there for a few seconds and then get up and try to get in the pail (which obviously held more water).  So in the end, we finally gave up on the bath tub and had it sent away. We bought a non-slip matt for the bathroom floor to prevent slips and allowed her to enjoy a bigger bath space and the pail. Now Patoochie enjoys baths even more because she gets to dunk herself in a pail full of water! :-) Of course this also mean MORE splashing and wetter parents :-P

Patoochiecake Adventures: The Negotiator

Crazy MikaEarly this evening Mika and I had a really funny conversation. Yes, I can actually have conversations with her already but they are usually more like negotiations rather than actual story sessions. Hehehe! Mika, brush your teeth first THEN you can watch tv. Mommy, jello BEFORE take a bath. You get the picture, right?

This evening, right before dinner, she wanted milk. Since I knew it would spoil her appetite, I tried to convince her by dangling her favorite part of any meal: RICE (yes, she is a rice-lover like her father!) Unfortunately, this didn’t work. So I bargained.

Kris: Let’s eat first then I’ll give you milk.
Mika: No, dede first Mommy. Then eat wice.
Kris: Fine. (finally giving in … but only a little bit) But only 2 ounces okay?
Mika: No. (complete with furled eyebrows)
Kris: Huh? How much do you want?
Mika: One only. Ayaw two.

Hahahaha! It sounded so funny! and she flashed a HUGE smile like she absolutely won! I guess she thought I meant 2 bottles of milk. Hahaha! So anyway, we both kept our word. I gave her 1 ounce of milk and she ate all her food during dinner. Beat that Kevin Spacey! :-P

Patoochiecake Adventures: The Sticky Situation

I was reading my book in the bedroom when I heard Mika calling for help in the living room. I rushed outside to find a completely annoyed Mika with her right foot stuck in her pencil can. It’s actually a Pringles can which we covered in felt and decorated for reuse. Anyway, I think she’s over her put-weird-stuff-on-my-head stage and is now more interested in various objects where her foot can fit :p

Mika is stuck

Helpful Mommy that I am, the moment I saw her in distress, I said, “OMG! Mika! What did you do?” at the same time reaching for my camera which was conveniently on the entertainment center behind me. Hehehe! Suffice to say I took pics first before helping her get out of her sticky situation. Hahaha!

Help!

This of course made her even more frantic. Teehee! I guess she won’t try to stick her foot in there again next time :p Or maybe I should just reuse empty Planters Cheez Curls cans instead of Pringles :p

Patoochiecake Adventures: Living up to her rep!

Say Cheese

She’s definitely learning the toddler ropes and living up to her reputation. Here’s a few of her toddler-y moments recently :)

Kris: Give Mommy a kiss, Mika!
Mika: (stops building her marble race tower and looks at me) No. Busy Mika. One minute (while raising her index finger).

Since when?! Busy?! She’s really loving the 1 minute line and the busy Mika line. Every time you ask her to do something she says she’s BUSY! :s

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Mika: Mommy? (flashing a smile while attempting to drop a picture frame behind the bed)
Kris: No, Mika. Don’t drop that!
Mika:  (drops it anyway)
Kris: Why did you do that?! I told you not to!
Mika:  (moves closer to me and starts singing the Barney song, “I love you! You love me! Mommy?” and then flashes the widest grin in the world!)

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Mika: Look, Mommy, puppies!
Kris:Mika say, “Hi Buddy! Hi Barney!” (those are the pups’ names)
Mika: (gives me a weird look) No, Mommy. Say “Hi puppy!”

Barney is a dinosaur nga naman eh. Si Mommy talaga! :p

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

We were role playing with her toy castle last week, copying a story from Pocoyo (a British-sounding Disney Channel cartoon – her favorite). So we had Mommy Princess, Daddy Prince, several horses, a couch, some plants and a treasure box. I pretended I found treasure.

Kris: Mika! Look! I found treasure! (pronounced tre-zhoor)
Mika: (showing me the treasure box) No, Mommy. Tre-zhah! Like Pocoyo! Tre-ZHAH!

Nyahaha! So now everyone in the house says it that way :p

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

We were sitting on the couch, watching Cars. She’s been hooked on the Motherhood Babies Car Craze lately :p Anyway, since the F1 race was coming up, I decided to practice our cheer with her. During the first part of Cars where they were showing the race, the following conversation occurred:

Kris: Mika! Let’s Cheer! Say, “Go Ferrari!”
Mika: No, Mommy.
Kris: Come on! Say, “Go Ferrari!”
Mika:No Ferrari! Cars only. Go Lightning!

Oo nga naman. There’s no Ferrari naman in Nascar eh :p

OC Ka Fairy Ko!

My uncle brought home purple fairy wings for Mika and she was absolutely thrilled and started fluttering around the house. The funny thing is that she got glitters on her hands since the wings were kin of glittery. OC kiddo that she is, when she saw the glitters on her hands, she immediately went to me and said, “mommy dirty hands!” Hahahaha!

Thanks to Weng for my new title! :-)

PhotoHunt: Paper

This weeks theme is “Paper”.  The other night as I was about to go to work, Patoochiecake saw her birthday party hats and decided to wear one party hat like a wrestling belt. Hehe! Then she saw a shoe salon paper bag and stuffed it with a barney book and a laundry net (of all things)! Then she got her dad to go with her to bring me to the elevator. She looked so cute waddling in the hallway with her paper bag and box of flash cards! When the elevator opened, she just had to go in too! So there went my little girl and hubby, trekking to the playground at 9pm with a paper bag with barney and a laundry net, a box of flash cards and a camera. I swear the man with us in the elevator couldn’t help but smile too :)

Patoochiecake Adventures: The Potty Training Attempt

Potty MikaMy friend’s recent success with her son’s potty training inspired me a little to start potty training Mika. We have the potty. We have the pull-ups. It’s just a matter of deciding when. The other day, after her bath, Mika was giving me a hard time with her diaper. She wanted me to chase her and would move her butt away as soon as I try to snap the velcro on. So I thought, “Hmmm … if you don’t want diapers, then no diaper it is!” Conveniently, the carpet was sent away to be washed so any “accidents” will end up on the tiles which is easy to wash and disinfect. So I let her go with only her panties to her delight! She was running around and playing and not minding the fact that she had no diaper.

Thirty minutes after, I went with her to the potty just in case maybe she wanted to pee. But she didn’t feel like peeing. So off she went to watch tv. Just a couple of minutes after, she went up to me and said, “Mommy? No diaper Mika!” The short statement later on became a distress call. “Mommy! No diaper! Mika no diaper!” while holding on to her panties and while giving me this ultra panicky look! I tried to calm her down by saying it’s okay. But she seemed so bothered! When I still didn’t put diapers on her, she begged “Mommy! Put diaper Mika!” with tears rolling down her eyes this time! Then she went to her diaper stash and got one and tried to put it on herself. Awwww…. I felt so bad that I helped her put the diaper on na :p

And so ends our first attempt at potty training. Maybe we’ll just revisit this again some other time. Hehe!

Note: the picture was taken a few days before the potty training attempt :p she was goofing off and wore her pull-ups on her head. Teehee!

Crocs Craze

When Crocs first came out, I thought they looked hideous! Hehe! They were clunky and made your feet look like a boat! The shape was definitely odd! It didn’t help that they were also a bit pricey for something Mika was only going to wear for a few months. We all know how fast kid’s feet can grow! So I decided that although I’ve heard and seen people raving about these shoes, I wasn’t about to buy Mika a pair.

On Mika’s 2nd birthday, she got a pair of Crocs from her Tita Arlene. Round about this time, Crocs were actually kinda growing on me already because of the cute colors they came out with and the new mary janes. We first went to one of the kid’s stores in Glorietta that sold Crocs. The moment Mika saw the Crocs display with all the pairs hanging in various colors, she went crazy! She immediately started taking off her shoes so she could try them on! Talk about the makings of a true blue shoeholic! So she tried several pairs on, but since they didn’t have the mary janes, we decided to go to Rustan’s and check. Mika didn’t want to take the shoes off anymore! She almost ran outside the store wearing them! Hahaha!

Anyway, so off to Rustan’s we went. Unfortunately, they only had mary janes in black and brown, which looked extremely iffy. So we finally ended up with the grape colored Kids Cayman Crocs. Oh they were adorable on Mika! Talk about a 180 degree change of opinion!

I think seeing Mika love her new shoes has made me see these clunky shoes in a whole new light. Weeks after her first pair, I have realized that these shoes are actually great for kids! They’re lightweight, anti-slip, super durable, and easy to clean. She runs and jumps around the house and the park in her Crocs and not once has she slipped. Plus the best part I think is Jibbitz for decoration! I can’t wait to get her some to decorate her shoes!

So I guess now I can say that I am officially a Crocs Convert! I’m even contemplating on getting one myself! I have my eye set on Cleo. I love the fact that they have great arch support which is a MUST for people whose feet have high arches like me!

Why Crocs?
(from the Crocs Philippines website)

1.) Really soft, super comfortable, molds to your feet
2.) Barely there, weighing only 6 ounces
3.) Vented so air passes through, keeping feet cool
4.) Non-marking slip-resistant soles
5.) Bacteria and odor resistant
6.) Ultra-hip Italian styling
7.) Port holes allow water and sand to pass through
8.) Can be sterilized in water and bleach
9.) Easy maintenance, just wipe clean
10.) Orthotic molded foot bed for ultimate comfort and support
