OC Ka Fairy Ko!

My uncle brought home purple fairy wings for Mika and she was absolutely thrilled and started fluttering around the house. The funny thing is that she got glitters on her hands since the wings were kin of glittery. OC kiddo that she is, when she saw the glitters on her hands, she immediately went to me and said, “mommy dirty hands!” Hahahaha!

Thanks to Weng for my new title! :-)

Thursday 13: Perk-Me-Uppers

Thirteen Things I Want to Gorge on RIGHT NOW!

1. Carson’s Ribs. I’ve only eaten here once when we visited an aunt and I just absolutely LOVED it! I would kill for Carson’s Ribs right now. Sigh.

2. Ben & Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk. Chocolate Ice Cream with White & Dark Fudge Chunks, Pecans, Walnuts & Fudge Covered Almonds.

3. Maguro Sashimi. Nothing beats fresh fresh fresh sashimi! I can probably eat a whole kilo all by myself.

4. Lay’s Original Potato Chips. Crunch! Munch! I’ve been craving for it since this afternoon.

5. Ghirardelli Chocolate Hazelnut Hot Cocoa. Heaven especially since mornings have been pretty cold lately. Mmmmm…

6. Aristocrat Chicken Barbeque. Everyone’s been raving about it and I just wanna know what the fuss is all about!=D

7. See’s Toffee-ettes. Sugar high galore! My kinda thing!

8. See’s Almond Royale. Need I say more?

9. Churros and chocolate. Aaaahhhh.

10. Serendipity’s Golden Opulence Sundae. This $1,000 sundae is something i can only dream about :p with “5 scoops of the richest Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla and covered in 23K edible gold leaf, the sundae is drizzled with the world’s most expensive chocolate, Amedei Porceleana, and covered with chunks of rare Chuao chocolate, which is from cocoa beans harvested by the Caribbean Sea on Venezuela’s coast. The masterpiece is suffused with exotic candied fruits from Paris, gold dragets, truffles and Marzipan Cherries. It is topped with a tiny glass bowl of Grand Passion Caviar, an exclusive dessert caviar, made of salt-free American Golden caviar, known for its sparkling golden color. It’s sweetened and infused with fresh passion fruit, orange and Armagnac. The sundae is served in a baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet with an 18K gold spoon to partake in the indulgenceserved with a petite mother of pearl spoon and topped with a gilded sugar flower by Ron Ben-Israel.”

11. Giordano’s Chicago’s World Famous Pizza. Nell had me absolutely craving for this since his blog about Chicago!

12. Mc Donald’s Twister Fries. Why oh why do these have to be seasonal?! Argh!

13. Stolichnaya Raspberry Vodka. To top it all off of course! ;)

PhotoHunt: Original

The Theme: Original

The baby in the middle is ME! — the original
The one on the left and right side is Mika! — the copycat

Our Patoochiecake has been the epitome of a super absorbent sponge princess copying every little thing i do! She copies my expressions. She says oh no, eeew, yucky, yeah and all other things i say. Once I accidentally said, “sh*t!” and she said it right after! tsk tsk tsk! I really better be careful! She also copies my intonation and whatever gestures that go with the expression. My hubby says she’s a mini-me. My little sponge princess. My little copycat. Now when she’s upset, she also looks like me pouting and crossing her hands! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Thank goodness I’m a good girl! ;-)

My Desktop – Tagged by Myra

Here’s my desktop. My hubby and I are huge Ferrari fans! And I am so not a fan of icons on the deskop. This explains why I have absolutely no icons whatsoever. Hehehe! But I do have a couple of sidebar gadgets … my most favorite feature in vista :)

On the right side of the desktop, you will see a clock, a weather update (gives you 2-7 days forecasts too), CPU and memory usage meter, a calendar, a notepad where i keep track of shows to download and other things i normally forget, and finally, a slideshow which changes the picture every 5 seconds. The slideshow ranges from Mika pics to sceneries to whatever I have on the PC. It has a second pane wherein I have a live panda cam from the san diego zoo (super cute), random calvin and hobbes comic strip, news feeds from NBC, and a voodoo doll you can stick pins on … seriously. Hahaha! My voodoo doll is currently named Alonso (Fernando Alonso is my most hated F1 driver) which can be seen on the left :p It’s a nice stress reliever. Hahaha!

Ateneo beats La Salle!

ateneoWe live to fight another day! Woohoo! Today’sUAAP Semi Finals game was just ultimately exciting! Ateneo beat La Salle (who is unfortunately, twice to beat!) with 1 point in the last 7.5 seconds. It was most probably the longest, most exciting 2 minutes of my life! Well, except maybe when I gave birth to Mika. Hahaha! I had only two hours of sleep and was getting ready for an early meeting at work (which of course I ended up being late for!). Hubby was home early because he wasn’t feeling well. And I am so glad I got to watch it with him because we’re eagles and archers and it was just so much fun to bicker and banter with him during the game. Hehehe! Of course thank goodness I had the last laugh. He was already telling me, “Go to work already. You’re just prolonging the agony. You’re asking for heartbreak.” Hahaha! But I just couldn’t get my feet out the door, not with only a minute remaining!

Chris Tiu nailed it once again when the Eagles really needed him. Thank you for the 3-pointer! Thank you for the lay-up! Thank you too La Salle, for not making the 3 pointer and the rebound at the absolute last second :p

When the game ended I was literally jumping around the room, screaming my life away! It actually gave me a headache after. Nyahaha! And I was in such adrenaline high! Which turned out to be a blessing because we had an office meeting that needed quite a lot of thinking. I wouln’t have made it with 2 hours of sleep alone!

Mika was cheering along with me, shouting, “Go Ateney!” She couldn’t add the “O” at the end. Hehehe! I caught a short video of it. I’ll maybe upload it when I get the chance.

On to Sunday for the final game between Ateneo and La Salle for this season. It will most definitely be another all out exciting game! Oh I just can’t wait! :)

PhotoHunt: Paper

This weeks theme is “Paper”.  The other night as I was about to go to work, Patoochiecake saw her birthday party hats and decided to wear one party hat like a wrestling belt. Hehe! Then she saw a shoe salon paper bag and stuffed it with a barney book and a laundry net (of all things)! Then she got her dad to go with her to bring me to the elevator. She looked so cute waddling in the hallway with her paper bag and box of flash cards! When the elevator opened, she just had to go in too! So there went my little girl and hubby, trekking to the playground at 9pm with a paper bag with barney and a laundry net, a box of flash cards and a camera. I swear the man with us in the elevator couldn’t help but smile too :)

Manicky Me

toiletriesI have some kind of mania for hair care products, lotion, cologne and other toiletries. I can’t seem to have enough! I have gazillion kinds of lotion and cologne both bought and given which are half used and even barely used and hardly ever used again! Some of them,  I just use once and then I forget about it for the rest of its shelf life.

It must be some sort of magnetic thing. I’m drawn to them in shopping malls and groceries. Except maybe “Lush” coz I find the scent of the store waaay too strong! I feel like the store assualts my nostrils. Hahaha!

I loooove going to the hair care section to check out what’s new. Nevermind that I have an almost full bottle sitting in the bathroom at home. I just wanna buy to try. And if it turns out iffy, it will sit there for the longest time til I FINALLY decide to throw it away or give it away. My husband has always wondered why I can’t stick to one brand, why I always have to try them out, and why I take forever deciding what to get. Hehe!

I have tons of lotion at home, including body butter. Tons of fruity cologne which I soooo LOVE! Tons of all kinds of things I don’t use. I’m eyeing another vanilla set on Multiply. Ahhhh … I can almost smell it now.

Negative 10 million watts to the infinity power

crazyI thought my negative 5 watt yaya, Emily, was bad. We all did, actually. Until Aida came along. Man, talk about negative 10 million watts to the infinity power! Or as Les described her, yaya from hell and beyond! She is HORRIBLE! Absolutely horrible! She arrived Saturday night and I am about to lose my mind so please allow me to rant :-p

By the way, I wont even rant about the Marlene, the previous one who I also thought was great at first (the one who knew hi-5). Let’s just say she turned out to be a total disaster as well. But this one? This one is a total freak show.

Her press release:
She’s been a yaya before. She took care of the daughter of a lawyer from birth to 4 years in a condo in Makati. Sounds good. Read on.

The horrible reality:
1. She has absolutely no idea how to interact with kids! Mika doesn’t like her and I cant leave them alone for more than 5 minutes! Long story short, I haven’t slept much and went to work last night with practically zero sleep.

2. She gets shifted into another dimension all the time when she finds something interesting on tv, on print or someone else’s conversation! As in she completely forgets about Mika. One time I was chatting with Nelson and my mother-in-law, she and Mika passed by. Later on, i realized that she was just listening in and forgot all about Mika who was off running elsewhere! Another time in Laguna, Mika was trying to show her a flower. She said, “Look yaya, flower!” several times but she was busy reading the resort advertisement. Haaay.

3. The first night she was here, I asked her to set the table and she said, “Ate magtitinidor ba kayo?” DUH?! I died.

4. Sunday we went to Laguna with Nelson’s family. As soon as lunch was served, I saw her standing there BESIDE my mother-in-law, with a plateful (as in mega-plateful) of rice with her ulam, ready to eat. Meanwhile, Mika, Nelson and I haven’t eaten. I told her to feed Mika, she said yes but later on I found her still eating her food ever so slowly. Buti nalang she decided to move to another area, not na right beside my mother in law on the table. Later on during merienda, while the other yayas were busy with the other kids, there she was na naman near the table munching on Cheetos and Ruffles. Kill me already. Super nakakahiya!

5. When Mika pooped, I asked her to change her diaper. She said she knew how so I let her do it herself and watched. I got the shock of my life when she tried ripping the diaper at the side seams to take them off! When I asked, “Diba nagyaya ka na? Hindi ka ba marunong gumamit niyan?” She said, “Kasi puro lampin lang ang gamit dun eh.” Daughter of a lawyer in a condo in Makati? Not once did she wear a disposable diaper?!

6. I asked her to buy something at the store in the 5th floor. She asked, “Pano po ba gamitin yung elevator?” And this is from someone who said she worked in a condo for 4 years. When I asked why she didn’t know how, she said she hardly goes out daw kasi. Let me say it again … 4 years in a condo?!

7. On the way to Laguna, in the car, she brought an entire bag of dedes. No powder, no pamunas, nothing else. On the way back to Manila, she brought with her in the car an entire bag of clothes. No dede. This is a yaya of 4 years. DAW.

I will not mention na all. There’s just toooooo many. And she’s only been with us for 3 days. I’m still hoping for some kind of miracle. A perfect yaya for Mika. Until then, save my soul from eternal damnation.

Patoochiecake Adventures: The Potty Training Attempt

Potty MikaMy friend’s recent success with her son’s potty training inspired me a little to start potty training Mika. We have the potty. We have the pull-ups. It’s just a matter of deciding when. The other day, after her bath, Mika was giving me a hard time with her diaper. She wanted me to chase her and would move her butt away as soon as I try to snap the velcro on. So I thought, “Hmmm … if you don’t want diapers, then no diaper it is!” Conveniently, the carpet was sent away to be washed so any “accidents” will end up on the tiles which is easy to wash and disinfect. So I let her go with only her panties to her delight! She was running around and playing and not minding the fact that she had no diaper.

Thirty minutes after, I went with her to the potty just in case maybe she wanted to pee. But she didn’t feel like peeing. So off she went to watch tv. Just a couple of minutes after, she went up to me and said, “Mommy? No diaper Mika!” The short statement later on became a distress call. “Mommy! No diaper! Mika no diaper!” while holding on to her panties and while giving me this ultra panicky look! I tried to calm her down by saying it’s okay. But she seemed so bothered! When I still didn’t put diapers on her, she begged “Mommy! Put diaper Mika!” with tears rolling down her eyes this time! Then she went to her diaper stash and got one and tried to put it on herself. Awwww…. I felt so bad that I helped her put the diaper on na :p

And so ends our first attempt at potty training. Maybe we’ll just revisit this again some other time. Hehe!

Note: the picture was taken a few days before the potty training attempt :p she was goofing off and wore her pull-ups on her head. Teehee!
